Waveney is a Yuwi Burra and South Sea Island descendant who studied contemporary music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She toured Queensland schools with her original show Have You Ever Heard a Wombat Sing?, writes music for film and TV, and in June 2023 released the children’s album Our Backyard with Alinta; the duo won the Major Minor Music Australia “Michael McGlynn Newcomer” award. Their performances at QPAC’s Clancestry festival feature songs and dance with native animal friends. Waveney has also collaborated with Ben Lee and Paul Kelly and produced Acknowledgement of Country songs.
