Junior Burger – The world’s greatest kids rock’n’roll band is back better than ever with more uncle energy getting the kids off the couch and into the shed, on the tools.
“I Fixed My Bike By Myself” is a four episode web series all about empowering kids, giving them a sense of pride in themselves by taking control, and getting things done on their own. This series explores basic trouble shooting, cleaning and customising their bikes and teaches them all about the tools they’ll need to fix their bikes.
Junior Burger are known around the country for their high energy live shows, and the way they treat their audiences as humans, talking straight, and making the kids feel like they’re just as important as the adults. As such, this web series was designed with lots of room for exploration, play, and working it out on their own so it’s less of a youtube tutorial and more of an exercise in encouraging critical thinking and problem solving.
This web series encourages kids to have a go themselves, because that’s how you learn – There’s plenty in there for the parents as well, because we all know that sometimes the reason we don’t all get out on the bikes is because they need a bit of work, and we can’t afford to take them all to the bike shop.
Our flagship bike – The blue BMX was purchased from the tip for $20, and all that was needed was air in the tyre, to tighten the chain, and nip up the brakes. This provides the perfect case study that any mum, dad, or child can have a crack, and get their bike going, or pick up one that needs a little TLC and that we can all get out there and enjoy the sunshine on our bikes regardless of our scenario or situation because every child deserves to ride a bike.
The soundtrack is courtesy of Junior Burgers debut EP “Totally Unsupervised” and makes the episodes fun, engaging and funky.
This project is proudly supported by the Queensland Government Bike Riding Encouragement Program.
